In the article which has been published in the academic legal journal "Jurista Vards" edition of January 17, 2012 has been expressed a viewpoint about the necessity to substantially amend the existing legal regulations on ports. The existing deficiencies in the laws provide for ports authorities broad opportunities for interpretation of laws, impeding the performance of commercial activities and violating interests of merchants. Resolutions established by the Administrative Department of Supreme Court Senate on May 2011 in the cases within which law firm "Spigulis & Kukainis" represented its clients is the cornerstone for the changes in the previous ports administration practice.
